Nelsonville Music Festival - Sunday
Another wonderful day at the Nelsonville Music Festival- saw the three great acts on the main stage this afternoon. The Honeycutters were first; a duo, acoustic guitars - harmonies and good lyrical songs. Todd Snider with Great American Taxi backing him up was next. Finishing the whole festival was The Swell Season.
Todd with a backing band was fun; he was in good spirits, and enjoyed the rocking out on some of the songs. Started out with Play a Train Song; with a nice rocking beat and good harmonies from the fellahs; Tension was next: with the "in the moment" changes of lyrics in the key parts. He played his Song # 10 (money, compliments, publicity) in there; a good kick out the jams version of the Devil You Know. Bring 'em Home also really rocked out. Miss Virgie (Devil's Backbone Tavern) song came with no story told; sounded great after not having it on a set list for a while. Crooked Piece of Time closed out the set, other than a sing along "Will the Circle be Unbroken"-
The Swell Season had a lot of rabid fans there; pressed up close; recognizing first notes of songs, singing along- lots of emotions through this set- lots of quiet songs; lots of rabble rousing songs. Glen had some funny in between song banter, and they definitely have an adoring audience.
So Tim Peacock and all the gang put on another great festival, and can collapse from tiredness now, knowing they made a lot of people happy and impressed with the event!
