Greens show was kickin'
The Greens continued their streak of fantastic shows; creating a momentum from the holiday shows on into the new year, with their show last night at the Marietta Brewing Co. This venue is proving to be a great spot for the greens, and their enthusiastic fan base to gather. The MBC must treat their musicians well- and the somewhat small performing area "works" for some reason- because the folks there really to hear the music seem to enjoy it just fine. I like standing along the hall way to get both a close view of the band performing but kinda stay out of others way!!
The Greens started with an accoustic set (andy on accoustic guitar that is, and some of the more ballad-y type songs- many of the ones I'd mentioned missing at the holiday shows. Tuck's Riff and "Y" were also in there- beyond ones I had listed- so its was a great first set, and working the crowd into a listening mode. There were some inspired guitar solos and work in there too. The band and crowd moved it into another amazing dance scene a little ways into the second set, which rocked it the whole rest of the way, including a several song encore; but still leaving the crowd wanting more. Andy had "real live bleeding fingers" by the end. Its getting pretty exciting to see the band's inspired shows recently and how this particular audience is feeding off of and feeding to the band. a great group of music lovers. Andy rolled out (at least) two new songs toward the end of the first set; these are always intriguing points, as you later remember the first time you heard some of the songs; and otherwise are short-timers; soon replaced by others in the main repetoire.
We'll be a little restless and anxious, since the greens aren't scheduled to be in the parkersburg-marietta area again until saturday Jan. 27, again at the Marietta Brewing Co. Maybe a new show will slip in there.............
