long gap in posting an entry

I've had a long gap in posting an entry- pphhhfffeeeewwwww- tired out.
I will be promoting the woody guthrie tribute show here non-stop for the next two weeks- adding bits of info as often as I can. July 15th in downtown parkersburg. Most of the groundwork is laid; just building up the enthusiasm here on out.
Greens stuff is a little in a lull- they will be going to Athens OHio on July 20th. a few marietta gigs lined up. Andy played at a private party last saturday; only seeing him briefly sunday morning.
Sent off a box full of greens CD's to relatives in Washington DC area; to see how they sell (!) there.
look for some more postings over the weekend-

Greens re-caps

A stifling hot outdoor venue at CA House music saturday afternoon- a small crowd- the Greens moving on to play in Morgantown that night. Andy getting shocked by the microphone- the generous use of any equipment in the store- playing a few songs that they didn't get to Friday night at Front Row- little warrior; tide turns again.
Friday night was a good show at the Front Row; not a huge crowd, but an enthusiastic one- two long sold sets.

Greens back at the Front Row

The scene of some of the early best shows of the Greens; where many fans came to first experience the excitement of the Greens, the Front Row hosts the Greens tonight. Andy did open mikes starting back in 2001 at the Front Row, and honed his audience pleasing style. Back in the days when Aaron Phillips was around, several of the holiday shows at the Front Row were major musical events in Parkersburg. Many folks in Parkersburg first heard many of the Greens most popular songs when they debut-ed at the Front Row.
There is much going on around town this weekend, but come out and see the greens. Tomorrow afternoon they will be at CA House of Music also, sometime in the afternoon, during the outdoor sale going on there. Then on to Morgantown saturday night for "Bucks."
I'll have a few of the burned CD version of Broken Science - ask the band about "production" of it and any web site updates. Nathan has some "promo" CD's if anyone has any venues they are connected with to spread the net wider- Athens, Charleston, etc.
Next week I'll be starting to hit the Woody Guthrie tribute promotion hard; I've held off waiting (hoping) for a surprise announcement of another event later in July, but am on hold on that; so I want to start getting word out about the july 15th tribute anyway.

last night's show

The Greens had an inspired performance last night at the wheel house- a little disappointing turnout- mainly just the die hard/ enthusiastic fans- almost entirely originals- the few obligatory covers toward the end..... some new songs, especially right at the beginning- good to have Jan in the mix.
Next friday at the front row; andy already headed back to mo-town.
I'm going try to go to the blennerhassett tonight to see Tanglewood 7-10 pm- they come recommended.

Greens tonight- wheel house

The Greens will be playing at the wheel house tonight. They are playing in Morgantown tomorrow night; "Bucks." Their my space site is starting to list more upcoming dates; including two in marietta this summer, already on the schedule- with an explanation of a new venue - "outskirts?" Next week in Parkersburg- the Front Row (a long dry spell) and at a music thing at CA House music on saturday afternoon.
I've been getting Broken Science out to a few folks; and Nathan has a nice demo with 5 songs on it, and a nice package, to distribute to venues and others who can promote.
Hope to see some folks out tonight; lots going on - zydeco at the lafayette; richard thompson at Stuart's....... (sold out)

Greens Friday night at the Wheel House

The Greens will be at the Wheel House this friday, June 9th at 9:30 pm. The multi-cultural festival is the following weekend; and the Greens will be at the Front Row, June 16th. They will be at CA House Music on Saturday afternoon, the 17th. Marietta Brewing Co. July 1st (looking ahead).

Nathan played drums with Dave and Shawn (1313) at the City Park bandshell (after the rain). Dave sets his leather jacket on fire on the closing number- the hottest bass player in Parkersburg.
I got my hands on 2 copies of the promo CD that Nathan had made up- for distribution to other live music venues and possible some other promo uses.

vinyl record sale wrap up

Had another beautiful day to have the outdoor sale- finally sprinkling a little rain just when I put the last of the things in the car. Sold about 190 records. Had some good conversations and characters. I'll take a break over the two hot summer months; hope to keep things going in the fall perhaps. Maybe by then, I'll have a little regular space at the expanded office space to have an on-going sale and listening area. Mostly the newly donated stuff sold; just a little stragglers of the old stuff. I'll check my 45's buyer to see if he'll want those; that will bring in a little more; and call the gospel guy this time around to see if he wants a look-see at the "big collection."

vinyl record sale

Woke up to a sunny morning; cool. Am bustling around sorting records that have come in in the last few days. Hope some folks will stop by to see the new stuff for sale.
Depending on how quickly I can clean up and stow away, I'll try to see the rockabilly 1313 at city park around 5:30 pm- Dave and Shawn- with Nathan Yoke on drums today.
Then I'll try to get to the wheel house to talk to them about the possibility of hosting a show July 28th- details to come.
